Over hours of phone time and emails just to hopefully make a reservation. I followed every step precisely on the website. You very seldom get ahold of anyone and when you do, they will immediately put you right back on hold with no answers.

I shipped my vehicle from Oahu to Maui on 17 Jan 2022. Everything went smooth for me. I arrived, they check me in, inspected my vehicle and that was pretty much it. Since we were moving from Oahu to Maui, the car had a lot of personal items in it. As far as I can tell, everything made it over exactly like I packed it. So no complaints here.

Most pathetic operation on the island. Avoid at any cost. Incompetent employees and just horrible customer service.

Frustrating booking process that is all handled via email or phone call. This is the 21st century and companies should have real time availability where you can make a reservation online without having to exchange Excel spreadsheets over email.
Additionally the work hours are very limited and confusing.

The staff in Kahului, Maui made my shipping our household goods to Honolulu efficiently and safety. Being a retired clerk in the longshore industry, I can honestly say proffeciently is what keeps company's in business. Mahalo YB.

It's a shipping line I just go in there to pick up containers for the company

Very bad service, they told me to arrive “at least 15 minutes” in advance, do not do it it will be a waste of time… they will make you wait until is the time for you to ship so if you arrive earlier you will be basically wasting your time….

YB is starting to get better with service but the long wait in line is still a snooze fest. If your in rush, be aware you may get stuck for an hour or two.
Patricia Moana-Kapuni Huff
Courteous and fast service. Great customer service. Not rushed and great explaining the process (I don't ship too often)..not sure why I thought those Stevedores would be punchy? Anyways, it was a lovely experience. I shipped a car interisland Honolulu to Kauai.

Made a call this morning to get our Freight Charges to bill our customer
like we normally do but whoever answered the phone, was not in a good
mood and blatantly rudely told me that "if we wanted our charges, our
drivers would have to go up to the window and get the invoice". I in turn
tell her "we've always called for our freight cost before invoice gets sent
out" and cockily she says "Well it gets redundant when we're short
Staffed!" Whoa - that's not something you tell your customers or rather
the way you tell your customers - You go and talk to your higher ups
About your grievances about being 'short staffed' - because if you're
hating your job - Someone else out there would gladly take it!! She just
made her Customer Service Department look ridiculous and untrained
just by a few Rude words and her whole demeanor of answering a simple
call. I mean, isn't that what customer service is for: to answer and help
with inquiries? I ended the call with "HAVE A NICE DAY!" SMH

My experience was great. Staff was very friendly seemed like they liked their jobs. I picked up two of my cars no issues and later on in the day I picked up mixed cargo. Both experiences were great.

Went to drop off a car today and it was an awesome experience. You make reservations now and don't have to show up and wait for your turn. You show up at your assigned time, sign in and they will call your name....they have a great system so just sign in and have a seat. I got checked in and she was super friendly. Try schedule early if you're shipping a car, if not, the entrance does get backed up.

I shipped my car from Oahu to Hilo and the process on Oahu was quick and easy to do. The staff there was very helpful and considering they only had two people checking cars in and out they moved relatively quickly.
The dock area is easy to navigate as they have colored circles on the ground you follow to your destination and there's staff everywhere that are willing to answer questions.
FIRST make sure to make a reservation, they don't make walk-ins (or at least I don't think they do anymore). Once you get there sign in and then wait for the staff to call your name.
Once they do hand them the paperwork, they take some photos of the car and boom you're out of there.
You have the option of paying at the port or at the receiving destination.

This place is busy early morning, but by the afternoon the lines to receive goods are almost non existent. I am picking up produce 3 days per week. Some times 2x per day. The forklift drivers are very skilled. The recieving office very helpfull. The security at the gate makes sure to follow procedure every time in and out of the gate.

Truly outstanding service in shipping my car to Hilo. Customer service agents were ready and we'll organized. From start to finish was 15 minutes! I'm also thankful the prices weren't too outrageous!

Usually their service is fast but this time I waited around 45 mins. My appointment is 2pm, ne there 1:35pm. There are many people waiting. The rep call me around 2:20pm.

Waiting almost 2hours. Tired & kinda irritated. Finally its our turn & the lady who takes our paperwork & tells us which container to load is so nice, so cheerful, so helpful that I 4got about the long wait. And her cheerfulness made me smile, I was happy & happy & gave me a positive outlook for my whole day. Thank you☆☆

My Experience on Feb 26, 2021
Being from Big Island - born & raised, I depend on Google maps whenever traveling for pleasure or business. We loaded our cargo van rental the day before since YB closes at 11a on Fridays and we had "mixed cargo" shipment to load.
On previous visits to Oahu, we always noticed semi-trucks waiting to enter YB gate 39/40 (Waiakamilo) from early so we decided to go wait at the gate at 545a - even though we knew they'd be closed.
The security guard was very helpful and friendly. He informed us that we couldn't wait there but we could return at 650a to line up. So we waited at Dillingham Foodland parking lot. We left the parking lot at 645a and drove to the YB gate.
The security guard allowed us to park in front of closed gate at 649a. As soon as I turned off our van, ALL the vehicles began lining up!
Gate opened at 7a at which time - to enter you need a driver's license or TWIC card and your passengers need ID upon request from guard.
We were instructed to pull to the far right lane and park by the STOP sign for another 30 minutes since YB opens at 730a.
We waited patiently and traffic at dock was busy. At 730a, the YB worker directed us to enter. I asked her how do I get to mixed cargo and she kindly said "follow the BLUE DOTS" on the ground. Thank you!
We were the first of a line of vehicles and we slowly drove to the back of the dock - following the BLUE DOTS!
We reached a sign that instructed us to "wait for next available agent, do not exit your vehicle!"
When agent came, she got information from me and instructed me to park in a designated area as paperwork and LABELS needed to be prepared!
Information that is needed -
Shipper / Consignee - name, address, contact phone, email is optional, shipping from & to, shipper pay or consignee pay at time of pick up, freight information. Every piece going into container needs label - label for port of arrival. We had 18 pieces for one Bill of Lading and 8 pieces for another Bill of Lading. Label info - Consignee name, address, contact phone, Bill of Lading number (found on the top right corner) and date. EVERY LABEL NEEDS THIS INFO - all 26 labels

This place runs slower than the lava flowing in puna. The only place worse than young brothers is the state / local government! Nobody here gives a **** about being efficient or working smart. If you're shipping to Maui or Molokai i recommend using Kamaka instead. Unfortunately, if you are shipping to the other islands then you have no choice but to use this company who does not value timeliness, efficiency or your business!
Moral of the story:
It's either running great when nobody is there or it's an absolutely terrible **** show!
Juicy Aloha

Please be aware if you ship your car that these people steal. Relocating, of course I had to pack my car with belongings. But I didn't expect to have jewelry made of brass that meant nothing to anyone but me and a box of half finished projects stolen.

We went there to pick up a vehicle shipped from outer island. From entering into tye shipyard, the female security guard was friendly and showed us direction to the customer check-in office. Once there, the process line moved fast and efficiently (great staff) and professional services. We drove off within 15 mins. The car was in prestine shape. Great service, people skills, and efficiency of processes.

Customer service training would be appreciated. The operator that made the reservations with me was very short and very rude. She does not appear to enjoy her job. The one lady at inspection was nice and the customer service office was helpful. I am rating 2 stars for the bad customer service with booking my appointment. This survey does not represent some of the ladies at Inspection and Customer service. They were professional and pleasant to work with. Remember customer appreciation is key when you are in the customer service business.

It was really awful so slow !!! Omg
Front gate one of lady security was very rude I don’t know how she is working at there with that negative attitude

Today they were really nice and helpful. Sometimes they can be REAL grumpy and don't want to help.
Valerie H
With YB being the only interisland company in Hawaii, they can afford to be unorganized all they want leaving people to wait for hours to either load or unload. I had no problems picking my vehicle up in Honolulu nor did I have any issues at all sending vehicle and stuffs from Hilo..Hilo was very organized, ran very smooth...Honolulu, on the other hand was a cluster f%*$, and took an entire day to pick up mixed cargo.
Seem@ like mgmt. needs to be overhauled...

Been going here for years out of necessity, in that time they have never noticeably improved any aspect of the business, very long wait times, they take a break in the middle of the day and simply wont help anyone at that time. Their policies are strict and inflexible, which makes no sense considering their inability to maintain any level of decent service. As soon as there is an alternative I will be on it!

Unfortunately Young Brothers lost my business due to customer service lady who was rude and not eager to answer any questions that I had about shipping my car unless I had a reservation number. I guess she did help me in making my decision to ship my car with another company :(

Great team there at Young Brothers. The process was pretty simple and they are really friendly....I bring that up because honestly Aloha seems to be missing in a lot of businesses here. But Young Brothers employees had it. Thanks.
Mark Miyazaki
I waited in line for 2 hours in the Auto shop to pick up my vehicle. Young Brothers need to hire more employees in that section. There’s only two workers that does the pick up and drop off.
